Are the Small Sticks or Particles in Gussy’s Gut® Safe?
Many customers notice very small “sticks” or particles in Gussy's Gut® and want to know if they’re safe.
These particles are the stems from plants in your pet’s formula and are completely safe to consume.
Why You May See These Particles
For example, our fresh oregano stems may get chopped up to about 1/8 inch. When these stems are fermented and then freeze-dried, they can sometimes look like a small stick. They’re woody and tougher than they look fresh.
Rest assured, these are fresh, whole foods, not wood, and they are as safe to eat as dirt or leaves that your dog might naturally ingest outdoors.
Safety Tips
Dogs ingest thousands of pieces of organic material in nature, so Gussy’s Gut® is safe when used as directed.
Hydrating in water before serving helps soften any larger pieces. Dry powder is also safe, but your dog could cough or hack, similar to eating dirt or leaves outside.
Quality Control
All of our Gussy’s Gut® powder is ground by hand, and the particle size is reviewed for 100% of our powder. Some particles you can see just didn’t get ground as finely as the rest of the powder — they are still safe, fermented, and freeze-dried.
For best results, soak the powder for at least 30 seconds. This softens it closer to its original form, making it easy for your dog to enjoy.
