When you read the comprehensive guide below, you’ll be able to see our philosophy for feeding each of our products -- Boost™ Boost, Youthful Grasses & Sprouts, and Gussy's GutAbles treats.  Our products are 100% safe and very easy to feed because they're made from 100% foods.  

So you really cannot make any big mistakes here except to give yourself less than 90 days on any of our products before evaluating.  It will take up to 90 days to see real results.

Budgetary Considerations: We understand that budget often drives decisions about pet supplementation purchases.  If cost is your primary concern, we suggest starting with that in mind. Dr. Billinghurst emphasizes that using just one of our products—though your dog may benefit from the full range—is far better than doing nothing.  While it may take months rather than weeks to notice improvements, positive changes will emerge over time.

We have literally thousands of types of dogs and customers needs we serve at different degrees.  We created this guide so you could identify the right prescriptive for you and your dog based on his/her needs and your own with your veterinarian's consent.

1.  What is the best product(s) for my dog?

Here is a summary of what we recommend you do for your dog's best gut health results.  Learn more below about our Reset, Maintain, Delight protocol.

Healthy Dogs (Puppy-7 years or less)

If you have a healthy dog (puppy or adult under 7 years), we recommend ordering a 90 day supply of Boost™ and continuing with Sustain thereafter.  

For adult dogs you want to maximize their dog's health and results, we recommend you add in Youthful Grasses & Sprouts.  Especially if your dog is a service dog, working dog, competitor, or recovering from an illness, surgery or after antibiotic treatment.  This will provide added gut and nutrient support and protection in these cases.

Older Dogs (over 7 years old)

If you have an older dog (over 7 years old), we recommend one of these two options.

Our recommendations are as follows for the level of support you prefer for your dog.

Good: Use Boost™ for 90 days, then move to Sustain™ thereafter

Better:  Use Boost™ for 90 days, then move to  Sustain™ and add in Youthful Grasses & Sprouts™ together.

Best: You use Boost™ everyday or more often as you need for extra support and add Youthful Grasses & Sprouts™ .

You do not need to feed more than two products at any time.  Boost™ and Sustain™ are similar.  Sustain™ is designed to be a continuation of Boost™.

In summary, your either doing Boost™ or Sustain™ alone or adding Youthful Grasses & Sprouts™ to either one of them for added support.

The best results come when sticking with a good plan. We created 3 products that link perfectly together.  They will work togelike nothing else on your pet's gut and overall health when fed

1.  RESET

This period is a 90 day reset or reboot of your dog's system with our product, Boost™.  This product contains the most ingredients we offer (19 in all).  The three big differences are, it offers a greater variety and spectrum of nutrients in those 19 superfoods and it is designed to work deeply support inflammation and detoxification.

Disclaimer: Some vets prefer that young puppies (under 6 months) and lactating or pregnant females not have the amazing herb milk thistle in this formula during those times. We do have customers that give Boost™ to their puppies and breeders that also feed it with no issues.  Consult your vet.  Look at Sustain or Youthful Grasses & Sprouts if have any concerns there during this period.

Every senior dog (over 7 years) or dog that is ill or has just come off antibiotics is welcome to continue Boost™ beyond 90 days continually or as you believe they may need the extra support. Consult your vet.

2.  MAINTAIN

This period picks up where 90 days of reset with Boost™ leaves off the rest of the 275 days a year. We recommend you move to Sustain™ and/or Youthful Grasses & Sprouts™ for the maintain phase. 3.  How much to order

Here's how to calculate how many packs you will need.

Every one of the products serving sizes are based on 1 teaspoon currently.  The more you are able to purchase, the more you will save.  Subscriptions will save you the most over the year.

Total the weight of the dog or all the dogs you will be feeding any Gussy's Gut product(s) to.

1. Divide the weight by 20 (lbs).  This gives you the "daily dose" (total # of teaspoons needed per day needed).
2. Take the total servings for the product (those doses are above) and divide the daily dose into it.  This is how many days 1 pack will last you.  
3. This is helpful for you to know how much to order for their 90 day reset supply or how often to set your subscription to.

Now you have all the information you need to make a decision for you pets.  If you'd like to ask us about your specific dogs, you may contact us via our support contact form with please send us 5 things: ages of dogs, total weight of all dogs, their health state currently, activity levels, and your budget monthly so we can better assist you. 

• We recommend at least one Boost or gut reboot per year.  More if your dog experiences an illness, health event, or treatment that affects their gut and immune system. These are decisions you can and should make with your vet.  Examples of these can include but are not limited to surgery, teeth cleaning, antibiotic therapy, kennel cough, Giardia, chronic diarrhea, etc. 
• We recommend puppies under 6 months and pregnant/lactating females be fed Youthful Grasses and Sprouts.  
• We cannot and do not guarantee your dog will get specific results.  Over thousands of dogs all on different diets, different health histories, and genetics, we simply cannot.  We recommend you give at least 90 days of continual use before evaluating.
• We will not be able to recommend the protocols for your dog beyond these guidelines.  Every pet owner is completely qualified to determine this for their dog’s own situation based on the guide above.  When in doubt, choose 90 days to offer enough time to support your dog.
• If budget is an issue for the ongoing Boost support for dogs 8-20+ years of age, select the 90 day Boost and continue beyond that period supplementing your pet’s food with Sustain or Youthful Grasses & Sprouts every day as a maintenance dose.
• All customers have to decide the level of support each of their dogs and cats need.  This is something only the owner can decide because they know their animals best.  Note, you can provide the most support with the per serving guidance of each product and by using multiple products.  If you want to do the most for your dog, you can feed our products together for a layering and multiplying effect.
• There is no perfect guide for all dogs. That is where you come in.  Show this to your vet if you have questions about what is right for your dog(s).
